i was supposed to have an 11-week vacation in between Spring and Fall semesters. but i decided to teach for the Summer. not working for 11 weeks, and not being home will make me crazy. and of course, i needed the money.
so my vacation went from 11 weeks to 3 weeks. then an offer to teach a short course for 2 weeks came. down to 1 week.
then just when i was dreaming of my vacation, a workshop popped up (thanks to this really hated Staff of the college). and i had to prepare for it. i had to cut out two more days from the week long vacation i was looking forward to.
thank God it's over!
now, i'm really closing the curtain. i'll won't work tomorrow (wednesday) til friday.
hayyy... how i wish i can leave this island and hibernate somewhere. i'm dreaming of staying in a hotel, eating at buffets, watching a concert, picnic at the park, pampering myself in a spa, and sleeping til i can't sleep anymore. i need to reward myself, somehow.
but then, i can't. there's no way i can leave this place this week.

we all go through life from one threshold to another. and when we feel we're already in our threshold, we know some things have to change. but it's not that easy. there's a price to pay. adjustment. discomfort. risk. regret. words almost synonymous to change. getting out of our comfort zone is not easy.
so when we're on the bordeline, when we're about to take take the plunge, a part of us wants to take a step yet another part is hesitant, unsure. we wonder what lies ahead. and is it worth giving up what we already have.
in going off to college, we leave our home and family behind to get good education. in moving to a new house, we have to say goodbye to the comfort of old friends and neighborhood in exchange of being closer to work. in getting married, we have to shed off some degree of independence for having somebody to share our lives with. in acccepting a promotion, we leave behind a position we've mastered for a higher position, higher pay, or a better career path. in changing careers, we risk failure in hope of finding fulfillment.
as we go from threshold to threshold, something pulls us forward while something pulls as back.
now which is the stronger force?

once a crammer, always a crammer
what am I doing? i'm supposed to be preparing for a workshop i'll be giving (i don't even know why i'm the one giving it in the first place) on Tuesday. but what am i doing? playing Text Twist over YM. typing an entry for my blog. chatting with erjo, kelvs and jontue over YM. talk about somebody who needs to work! i'm such a crammer. can somebody pressure me to work? i haven't started anything! i don't even know if i really have something to deliver in that training to think that they will give me a whole day. hayyy... i'm doomed.
